Infiltration preparation of samples for electron microscopy can be done using the PELCO^®R1 Rotary Mixer. It is a single speed mixer with a slow rotational speed that ensures improved infiltration without air bubbles and is well suited for preparation of tissue samples.

The mixer consists of a cabinet that houses the motor and a Mixer Head that holds the specimen containers. It comes with the Collet Assembly already in position. Only the mixer head needs to be attached to the collet with the supplied black finger screw and locking washer.

The mixer head of the 1055 and 1055-220 mixers utilize the PELCO^®Glass Snap-Cap Vials Product Nos. 12701–12708. The "Snap-Cap" feature seals the contents of the vial, protecting both the sample and the operator. An optional rotator head available for this unit with a 23-hole capacity is Prod. No. 1056. Sample vials that fit this optional head are Prod. No. 410 and 411.

Connection to an electrical source 110-120 V AC, 60 Hz (No. 1055), or 220-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz (No. 1055-220) is via a standard grounded electrical cord and plug. The motor circuit is protected by two 5 x 20 mm GDB 250 V (0.1 A) fuses.

If the head fails to rotate, the following should be checked:
